Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

KLISC JISKM is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and follows the guidelines and best practices set out by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Duties of Authors

• Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original and has not been published elsewhere or submitted to another journal. All submissions are screened for plagiarism using iThenticate at desk review and again after revision.

• Authorship: All listed authors must have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and agree to be identified as authors. The corresponding author is responsible for securing all co-authors' consent.

• Data and Reproducibility: Authors should provide access to the data supporting their findings, where ethically possible, and include a Data Availability Statement.

• Ethical Approval: Where research involves human subjects or animals, authors must provide evidence of approval from an appropriate ethics committee.

• Conflicts of Interest: All financial, personal, or professional interests that could influence the work must be disclosed.

• Use of Artificial Intelligence: The use of AI tools must be transparently disclosed; authors remain fully responsible for all content.

2. Duties of Editors

• Publication Decisions: The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which submitted articles are published, based solely on academic merit and without regard to race, gender, religion, or institutional affiliation.

• Confidentiality: Editors must keep all submitted manuscripts confidential.

• Conflict of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where they have a competing interest.

3. Duties of Reviewers

• Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Peer review assists editors in making publication decisions and may help authors improve their work.

• Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents.

• Objectivity: Reviews must be conducted objectively, with constructive criticism.

• Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work not cited by the authors.

4. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

The journal is committed to maintaining the integrity of the academic record. If errors or ethical issues are identified after publication, the journal will take appropriate action in line with COPE guidelines:

• Correction: A formal correction will be issued for minor errors that do not affect the scholarly integrity of the article.

• Retraction: Articles will be retracted for major errors, misconduct, or ethical breaches. Retraction notices will be clearly linked to the original article.

• Expression of Concern: An expression of concern may be issued while an investigation is ongoing.

5. Appeals and Complaints

Authors who wish to appeal a decision or raise a complaint should contact the Editor-in-Chief with a detailed justification. All appeals will be investigated in accordance with the journal's formal complaints procedure, which follows COPE guidelines.
